Altered Bats

  • At any time during a Perfect Game-sanctioned event, a Perfect Game Director or Umpire-in-Chief (UIC) may request to inspect a bat. If the owner or user of the bat refuses to allow this inspection, they will automatically be suspended from participating in all Perfect Game-sanctioned events for a period of three years. Alternatively, the owner or user may choose to permit the inspection, allowing for a determination of whether the bat has been altered. It is the responsibility of the bat owner or user to have knowledge of whether their bat has been altered or modified in any way.
  • Altered Bat Definition: A bat whose physical composition has been modified beyond the original specifications of the manufacturer.
  • Bats Exhibiting Damage, Wear, or Illegal Substances: Bats exhibiting any form of damage, including but not limited to cracks, warping, missing knobs or caps, or a rattling sound, are not permitted for use in Perfect Game-sanctioned events. All certifying markings or graphics on the bat must be clearly visible. Bats with worn-off certifying or identifying markings will be removed from play. No foreign substances are allowed on the bat barrel, and all identifying marks and graphics must be unobstructed. If a foreign substance is discovered or identifying marks are not visible, the bat will be removed from play.
